  • VRay 3.1 crash with VRay instancer

    Hi,

I just installed 3.1 today, running with Max 2013, Windows 7.

I'm trying to use the Instancer with PFlow,

I created a torus, an instancer and a Pflow - picked both the torus and the pflow in the respective slots.

Tried rendering and get a crash - also tried disabling the default shape in Pflow, still crashes.

Not sure if it's just doing things the wrong way (but still no idea why it crashes) or a bug...

    Thanks,

    Steve

Any crash is a bug by definition Does the source object have any material? There was a crash if it didn't, already fixed for the patch next week.

    Best regards,

That was likely it - I'm working with a scene where it has a material and it's rendering fine.

      Thanks!

By the way - is there any way to export vray instancer as vray proxy?
Let's imagine I fill up some container with coffee beans (with mParticles).
How can I export this to use in other scenes?

I knew this would come up, but we haven't done it yet. We are working on supporting instancing inside V-Ray proxy files (in fact, this is almost complete) and once this is done, we can look for ways to export the instancer as a proxy.
