  • Vray 3.0/3.1 darker or different results from 2.x

This may have been covered but I cannot seem to find any threads addressing this.

Using MAX 2014-2015, rendering a previously VRay 2.4/2.5 file in 3.1 the results look darker specifically in indirect areas.
This seems to be more or less severe in various scenes. This is with and without a VFB curve being present.

I seem to recall reading a thread about using a curve in the VFB causing issues and that if it was "off" the results would be the same. In my initial testing of 3 this seemed true. We are finally preparing to switch to 2015 and 3.1 and doing more testing to see if there will be any issues with existing projects.
I am seeing a mixed bag of results here.

If the curve is an issue and there has been a change is there any chance to get a "lagacy mode" switch for curves in the VFB? We have some older products that will wreak havoc on us.

    Thanks,

It appears to be mainly in reflections. If I override with a flat grey or whatever color they look very close only a very tiny difference in dark areas but when the reflections are on I get a different result.

It would be best to get me a file that I can look at; you can send (a part of) your scene to support@chaosgroup.com

      Best regards,

            Thank you.
My colleagues will now check the file and inform you about the results.
