DR breaks on restart

So DR rendering is working, but with a minor problem

DR works and all is well, but if I restart the main machine (the one with the Vray license, dongle etc) the DR on the node will no longer connect and help render the image. If I go back to the node PC, quit then re-start the DR Spawner then DR will once again work as normal.

So I ask, is this normal? Do I really need to restart the spawner every time the main machine is shut down or restarted?

This should work fine if you register the spawner as a Windows service. Make sure you also set the service to run as your actual user on the machine. See here for more info:

So this needs doing on both machines?

If I do this to the desktop machine, 2 instances of Max are running if I view the taskmanager (once I've opened a scene to work on that is) - that cant be right surely?
Do this to the node and nothing changes. The node still needs the Spawner launching manually if the desktop machine is restarted.

It would be best to create a support ticket about this issue. Please send an email to support@chaosgroup.com with link to this thread.
Then we will continue to troubleshoot the issue in remote session.
