ok its complicated.. i have one local license on my workstation, and a vpn to the company i work for, where they have many licenses.
i have a renderbox that can not access the vpn, so ive set my system up, so the main workstation uses the vpn as the primary license server, and the local one as secondary, in case the internet goes down.
the renderbox is set to only use the local license server on my workstation.
this means while the vpn is up i can use both machines for rendering.
however its completely unreliable. after working fine for a few renders, suddenly my renderbox cant get a license.. the workstation has decided to use the secondary license despite the primary one being available over the vpn.
is there a timeout when it will decide to use the second license server instead of the first? i.e. if there are some milliseconds delay in the remote license server responding, it chooses the secondary?
its a right pain in the arse, as to fix it , i have to cancel the render, stop the local license server, rerender, forcing the workstation back to the primarly (remote) license server, then restart the local manager quickly before the rendernode picks up the job.
