  • Embree breaking/corrupting normals on simple opacity mapped planes

    Is this a known issue?
We had a problem with a really simple scene of some opacity mapped planes flickering randomly (both randomly by object and time).
It turned out that switching off embree fixed the problem.
The maps are 4k PNG using standard max bitmap loader applied to either vrayLight or vrayMlt materials.

If you can't recreate it in-house we should be able to send you out a scene.
    Thanks
    p.

I can't reproduce this; I don't see how Embree would affect the normals - it may be some other issue. Can you send a scene?

    Best regards,
    Vlado

We already fixed this problem in nightly and stable builds after 13 Dec 2014. Simply get the latest nightly build of V-Ray and you will render it fine.
