  • Vray RT 3.1 Cuda render stops after 1 minute

Hi I have some trouble with a test setup.
No matter how high I bump my settings, every time the RT rendering stops after 1 minute?

Reflection and refraction settings are at 50 subdivs

    Am I missing some setting?

Update: boosting the max math per pixel to something like 10000 seems to work. Are these kind of settings normal?
Previously I never used more than something like 512

If you set 512 max paths per pixel, the render will stop once they are reached. Is it possible that this happens exactly after one minute ?
There is no max value for max paths per pixel (and if you want to render forever, just leave it 0).

Also, I would suggest to use lower value for "Rays Per Pixel" - something between 8 and 32 is usually fine.

If there is any confusion about those :
You can think for "Rays per pixel" and "Ray Bundle Size" params as for "Bucket Size"; We can very roughly say that "Progressive RPP" is something like "dynamic bucket splitting" ..
"Max Paths Per Pixel", "Max Noise Level" and "Max Time" are the checks, at which the render stops (the first one to happen).

You can read detailed description about those here http://docs.chaosgroup.com/display/VRAY3/V-Ray+RT

Thanks for your reply, this is helpful.

I also noticed when turning depth of field off, I can keep the path per pixel at 512 and get a clean render. The reason I had it on was because I couln'd get door results using a zdepth pass in After Effects. But I found a solution for that; rendering a zdepth pass with the scanline renderer at 4k and use that in AE.
