  • Mesh effecting glass render (CAD to Maya to FBX to Max)

    Hi,
I've been given a Maya file that came from either a Deltagen or CAD file (I can't get the original), I've taken it from Maya to Max via FBX. I've put a simple Vray arch glass on the mesh but the geometry seems to be effecting the render, see the large central dark strip that corresponds to the change in geometry. Any idea on how I could fix this? The strip seems to change density dependant on material applied.

The mesh has the same geometry in Maya and seems to render fine, so I don't think there has been a translation issue.

Many thanks if you can help.

    What is the material setup?
Does it have any refraction fog color applied?

I assume that this is the reason way you are seeing the color differences on that area. It's an expected result when you have objects/parts with different thickness.

It renders fine in Maya though?

Also the thickness seems pretty uniform across the object. Just the facing tri's differ.

            Thanks.

              Thanks.
              Thanks for the quick update.
Then it will be best to check the file. Is it possible to send it to our support mail ? (support at chaosgroup.com)
