  • VRayLightMtl doesn't emit direct light from VRayProxy objects :(

    Hi

I am doing some work with lava in Houdini and exporting it to Max using Alembic. I am using VertexColor Map to transfer color data which is working nicely. I am now trying to use this map with a VRayLightMtl the color data comes through to the material but I don't get any Direct Illumination. Is this a current limitation of the Proxy format? Can this be fixed?

Here is a link to a simple setup:-

    Kind Regards,

The direct illumination option of VRayLightMtl material only works for regular meshes. In the next build, the proxy has an option to show the full geometry in the viewport and in that case you will be able to use it as a mesh light.

For the moment though, the only way to get the proxy to emit light is through GI.

    Best regards,
    Vlado
I only act like I know everything, Rogers.
