  • Headache : RTT doesn't render as normal prod render

    Hi guys,

I've a really hard time with what seems to be dead simple render to texture situation for a couple of hours.
I can't figure out why but I had weird light/gi splotches on my objects.
I though it's because settings where low so I even went crazy settings and bumped to 8k map with BF for a cushion but it didn't fixed it :

Here is a screengrab of the issue :

    Easy comparison,
I align the RTT uv map to view so it should render from the same angle as the prod.
Left is RTT, right is prod render.
It takes about the same time to render and output size are the same.
Do you notice that RTT has weird crazy splotches everywhere? Whereas prod has a smooth result.

Any help would be greatly appreciated as I'm starting to become crazy.

    Ok now I'm completely lost,
another quick RTT that is dead simple as well and I got splotches everywhere.
I really need someone to tell what I'm doing wrong because it doesn't make any sense!

In addition to the previous issue, I had another one now.
It seems that for some reason, when I'm enable few lights (that I have manage to isolate) I have a really weird render.

Here are two screen, one with light off, one with lights on

Hope someone will be able to have a look as I'm really starting to become a bit crazy with all those issues.
It renders fine in normal render mode, it's only happening when using RTT.

All of the Render to texture issues are caused by the Embree. If you disable it everything will work as expected.
I added the issues in our bug tracking system. For now its best to not use Embree when baking textures.

It seems to be something related to the IES lights; setting their shadow bias to 0.01 seems to solve the problem even with Embree, but I'm looking into what's causing it in the first place.

                Best regards,
                Vlado
