  • MatID & blend mtl : How to get it work?

    Hello,
What's the trick to get a material ID pass to work within Vray blend material?

  • #2
No post... it may have 2 meanings:
    - it should work straight away, so there is no trick involve.
    - It is not possible, so there is no trick again.

So let's start again from the roots:
    - Are you able to make a MatID or multimatt render pass from the vray blend material?

This topic has been discussed on several different places on the forums:

      http://forums.chaosgroup.com/showthr...ndMat&p=564723
      http://forums.chaosgroup.com/showthr...e+vrayblendmtl
      http://forums.chaosgroup.com/showthr...e+vrayblendmtl

It is not possible to extract MultiMatte Render Element from VrayBlendMtl since MultiMatte element works with integer values and there is no way to extract such from BlendMtl.
There are other render element which could be used to extract masks from materials inside BlendMtl - please check the links bellow.

        Thanks,
I am aware of this post, but all of them are on the Maya Forum, not max. I have some doubt it will work with max.

I am sorry for misleading you - the posts are indeed for V-Ray for Maya but it is the same thing in V-Ray for 3DSMax.
MultiMatte elements works with integer values which cannot be extracted from VrayBlendMtl.
