  • Reflection Grain position seems to be attached to the camera, not to the geometry?

    Dear all,

I wonder if the same issue occurred to you,

in a current camera-fly through movie sequence with static geometry that we have rendered, the reflective noise/grain/samples seems to be attached to the camera as if it was on the same position on the camera lens, but is not moving with the geometry. Is there a reason for this?
In the sample scene we have all lights not stored with irradiance map and the samples are set to 8, which is quite low. The grain itself is not disturbing, but that it seems to be sticky to the camera.
The calculation method is irradiance map and lightcache, multiframe incremental and flythrough mode, both are not set to "use camera path". The lightcache itself is set to screen and filter is set to fixed. Use light cache for glossy rays is on and retrace threshold is set to 1.0.

Setting the lights to store with irradiance map could remove the noise, but I don't want to remove the noise, but to fix the position problem.

    Looking forward to your feedback.

    Robert

Depending on the V-Ray version you're using you have to disable the "time independent" (VRay 2) or "lock noise pattern" (VRay 3) setting in the Global DMC render settings. Once disabled, the noise pattern will be different in each frame.

      Thank you, this solved it!

      Cheers
