  • brdf soften for VrayCarPaintMtl

Is there any way to soften the specular in the vraycarpaintmtl, the way it is done in the VrayMtl?

If not, is there a way I can replicate my carpaint exactly in a vrayblend, how are the layers blending?

    Thanks

    Hi,

Adjusting the Coat Glossiness value should give you more blurry reflections.
Also you can see this thread :
    http://forums.chaosgroup.com/showthr...ight=car+paint

There is a detailed explanation on how to recreate Carpaint using V-Ray Blend material.

      Hi Tashko

The problem is not in the reflections, it is that the base coats specular had hard edge.
Like in the help example here http://docs.chaosgroup.com/display/V...Example:Soften
I have rebuilt with VrayMtl and used the brdf soften to fix it.
Just was difficult matching the falloff blend for the clear coat. Got it pretty close so no worries.
How is the carpaint blending, is it with frenel? and what ior does it use.

      Thanks

Actually I'm not sure about the exact formula used for blending the base and clear coat layer. Maybe Vlado can share more details on this.

          It uses VRayFakeFresnelTex.
