  • Strange Speculator issue specially with cars

    Hello Guys

    we face recently strange issues which is Strange specular

    We get flickering specualrs and the support answer it was to

    Go for vRaySky from environment copy it to materials
    Turn on Specify sun node
    and then turn on Sun Invisible

    it worked for one project but on the other project it didn't

    its really annoying to see renders like that...
    any one faced same issue ?

    before it was only for cars now even with some materials , i'm littel bit thinking this is
    serious bug , since i remember one project was not having any issue and later we faced the issue

    By the way this is using vray 3.1.01

    i'm updating to 3.1.03 it seems this issue not there but can someone confirm...

    Hi,

    I'm getting the same animation result with V-Ray 3.10.03. However, I see that Subpixel mapping is activated for this scene, but it will work better in combination with Clamp output in order to remove those very bright specular spots from the final render. According to my tests, if you use a clamp value between 3 and 5, the spots will disappear.

    Another option is to remove the specular contribution from the Sun light and use another light source with bigger surface to produce only specular highlights.

      do you have specific details for the Light Source which we will use as specular highlights and recommended setting and type of lights

        For an example, you can add an invisible Disc light in front of the sun light (Affect diffuse unchecked ) which has greater radius. Then you can adjust the multiplier according to your needs.
