  • light flickering on animation

    hi,
    I'm having a problem rendering a sequence.
    Here is the video:

    https://vimeo.com/128360564

As you can see, there is a light flickering, or fireflyes on the lamps and wine glass.... How can I avoid this?

I´ll send you the file if you wish.

btw, I´ve lowered max ray intesity to 10.

check subpixel map and clamp set that to 2.0 or 3.0.

thank you! but is it safe to use subpixel clamp in conjunction with max ray intensity?
I have clamp output set to 2.

Yes they do different things anyway.

However I would try to find the source of your bright pixels in the first place and resolve it that way. Subpixel generally dims the reflections somewhat, some people do not like using it, especially in interiors.

Guys I urgently need help on this. I am getting the same issue. I can't show the files as its for a production. The flickering is in my Reflection and specular layers clearly. I have a dome light and 3 area lights.

I watched a video about Max Ray Intensity in vray3.0. I don't have time to conduct a test but it only shows up when I render animation and not a still of the same frame.

Default is 20...can I use that and avoid clamping and subpixel mapping? Vlado? Please hurry guys. Need to know. Thank you.

It would be best to send the scene or part of it to support@chaosgroup.com - the guys will be able to help you out.

            Best regards,
            Vlado

Thanks Vlad. I've sent the scene file along with a rendered file showing the problem in the spec pass. Could you help me expedite your team to look at it? My deadline is in 3 days and we've got 18 scenes to render. This problem keeps coming up in this one.

Sorry, also didnt realize I posted in the 3dmax segment. I am using maya2015 and Vray 3.001.

That max ray intensity clamp...I tried it but it didn't work but didnt have time to play with differing values

Depending on the noise you have in this animation, you have to play with different settings. For bright spots flickering, Subpixel mapping with Clamp set between 2 and 5 will help. For a "boiling"noise in speculars and refl. glossiness , you may have to increase the Light and Material glossy subdivisions. Using a more blurry filters will also help.
Furthermore you can try to increase the Min Shading Rate value.

The scene file has been forwarded to Vlado for further investigation.
