  • Turning down affect Specular spinner also affects the reflection intensity

    Hi,
I often use mapped Vray lights for lighting. Sometimes the specular is way too strong then, so I use the multiplier next to the affect specular checkbox to tune it down. But this also affects the reflection intensity. Is that the expected behavior? I thought this would only affect the specular component, not the reflection.

Affect Specular value should affect only Specular parameter of the material, Reflections should stay the same.
Please add Specular and Reflection Render Elements and run a few test with different values for Affect Specular.
Pay attention to Reflection Render Element and if it gives different results for different Affect Specular values pack the scene and send it for investigation.

Let us also know the exact V-Ray version that you are using.

The spinner affects both the specular and the reflective contribution, otherwise the render will be too noisy/incorrect.

Okay. I wondered why there is no spinner next to the affect reflection checkbox, but I assume the asnwer is in your last post. So I have to stick with creating two seperate lights, one for the reflection, and another one for diffuse+specular. So basically my render is incorrect anyway
