ID:	881889Hello,
Often, some render slave failed to render even when just before, during a crop test, all slave were working fine.
So, when the render takes several hours, having one or 2 slave less on top of 5, make a huge difference.

Is there a way to add other slaves on the fly to reach again the max slave number authorized by the license?

    Thanks

ID:	856260Here is another case where the slave won't start.
I start a render (job B) on the Workstation, including DR, while the slave where busy with another job (Job A).
Once the job A is finish, the slave are free, but for some reason, they are not assigned to the job B still ongoing.
I would like to get the slave on duty for job B, but I have no idea how to do that.

ID:	856261What I tried so far:
Restart all slave: No progress, there is even no info visible on vray message regarding the restart
Open another max session, uncheck all slave from DR dialogue box: "Host Delete" from vray message
Add again all slave to DR: "Scene added" from vray message

But the result is the same, only the workstation is rendering, the slave won't work "Host xxx not responding"

I tried rendering with DR from a new scene (job C) from the workstation (excluding the workstation because the workstation is already busy with Job B).
        All slaves (5) are working.

To resume, Slaves works on a new scene, but won't board on the job B on going.

          Hi,

Usually the message "not responding " by the salve machine is due to differences in the versions or Service packs V-Ray or 3DS Max or something that unsupported or missing on the render node/s.
Can you post the V-Ray log file form one of the problematic slaves as soon as one render (Job B) is completed?
What is the exact V-Ray build? In the latest SP 2 we have an option to add/remove DR servers on the fly.

            Vray SP2 (3.2)
The log file of all nodes dated back to septembre, november 2014. There is no Log file up to date on the server node!

The vray version is 3.2 on all nodes (updated 3 days ago)
            Thanks

Most probably the V-Ray log file is saved on different location. Do you start the V-Ray spowner manually or it is running as a service? If it is registered as a service, the file might be in the Windows/temp folder.

                    Yes as a service.
But the one in temp folder is even older (5/19/2014)!
                    Same for all the nodes...

Thank you for the quick update.

Probably the V-ray spawner is logged with different user account.
However, can you try to change the path (%temp%\VrayLog.txt), in the workstation render settings log section, with > C:\VrayLog.txt

                      and run a test render.

If you still have problems to find the latest log file on the render nodes, please email us at support@chaosgroup.com and we can check the system via remote control.

The main workstation (localhost) can't be added later one?

it can be added if you are running a spawner service on it.
                          Cheers,
