  • RT: 3.2 renders black with Bercon Noise applied to bump

    Hello,
I encountered a problem with the newest release. As soon as I put a bercon noise into the bump slot of a Vray Material, the render gets darker and darker until it is completely black. The normals channel reveals that the normals are completely black. This happens quite randomly, sometimes you have to drag a new region for the effect to appear. This is in CPU mode.

    Hi,

I can confirm that there is a problem with this setup (Bercon noise export to RT is wrong) and the relevant issue in our dev. system is updated.

    Thank you for your feedback.

      Tashko,
thanks for confirming the issue. Are there any plans to release an update that adresses this problem soon or would it be better to ask for a nightly build?

We'll try to get it working again, but I'm not sure when. We never really supported the Bercon maps officially in V-Ray RT; we had done some work, but it was never finished. Then the guys working V-Ray for Modo made some changes to the Bercon maps to get them working in Modo and I suspect they broke them in 3ds Max.

Anyways, will let you know what happens.

        Best regards,
        Vlado

Are there any news on this? If not, I would have to delete the Bercon Noise from all the materials I have in the library. Although the standard noise from Max has its own problems...

I think it was fixed in the nightly builds... I have to check.
