  • Ornatrix Hair from Mesh Strips not right thickness

I don't know if this is a Vray issue or Ornatrix. However I recently updated Vray to 3.2.02 and I didn't update Ornatrix -- so I'm leaning towards Vray.

Creating normal hair with Ornatrix is totally fine. The problem is if you use the "Ox Hair from Mesh Strips" function. In this case, the "Ox Render Settings" modifier will not be respected by Vray. You can change the width, or the tapering or whatever and the hair always renders the same way.

Mental Ray (which I would never use in a million years) renders properly.

I attached a screen shot showing the tapering (of purple hair) in the viewport and the vray render which doesn't match. (The spiky ball in the background is normal Ox hair and it's fine).

The scene file is also included.

    Hello,

Is your Ornatrix version before 3.1.4 ? There was an issue with older Ornatrix versions and the Ox Render Settings - up to version 3.1.4 the programming interface to get the settings worked in a certain way. Then in the versions after that the interface changed (got better). Unfortunately there was no reliable way for us to know the exact Ornatrix version and the right interface - so we decided to use the newer one.

If you could update Ornatrix too - this should solve the issue with the render settings.

    Best Regards,

I'm sorry I neglected to include the Ornatrix version number in my post. This error is happening on Ornatrix 3.3 which is the latest version.

The error shows up in both Max 2015 and 2016 with the latest Vray (3.2.02.)

I can confirm - there is something wrong with the "Ox Hair from Mesh Strips". We've emailed Ephere guys about this and will write back when we have some more info about this.

        Best regards
