vrayplane alpha through glass

I recently had to use a vrayplane with alpha contribution set to 0, and it all works fine unless the plane is seen in refraction. through refraction the plane's alpha is totally opaque. as I've never come across this before, I was wondering if it's a known problem or not.
vray 3.20.02 and max 2014.
