We are getting a weird error with the new VRay Volume Grid in 3ds Max. Our fume wavelet caches are not working correctly when we load them into the Vray volume grid. Our wavelet caches seem to be the incorrect size. They appear to be twice the size. Fume itself displays and renders the same wavelet cache just fine. The default fume cache works fine in the volume grid. We are following the steps of Gzip compression with the f3d file format and we are still having this particular problem. Any ideas or similar encounters?

Hello,
First off, which V-Ray version are you using?
Do you happen to use boundless grid in this simulation? It is not exported fine in the f3d files and tends to produce such distortions.
If not, would it be possible to share a single wavelet cache file so we can check it?Svetlin Nikolov, Ex Phoenix team lead

Hey, there. We are not using boundless, and we are using 3.5.5 fume and vray 3.20.01.
I've uploaded a single frame of the cache here to my Google drive. Please be advised, it's about 1.6 gigs.

Thanks.

Thank you for the file!
We have found a way to workaround the issue, but seems that the f3d files coming out when wavelet or boundless sim is used are non-standard, so we'll need to run some tests before the solution comes into the nightly builds. I will update you when it's ready.Svetlin Nikolov, Ex Phoenix team lead
