  • Dual 8-core with Hyper Threading, 50% usage - only one processor used

    Hello,

I've been Googling this for the whole day without an answer.

I have ProLiant DL60 with two 8-core Hyper Threaded CPUs. On DR and Backburner it only uses 16 buckets (from CPU1) and CPU 2 is idling at 0%. I have Multithreading turned on and 3ds Max has affinity in all the processors, but no luck.

How can I utilize both CPUs? Running Windows Server 2012.

It seems that the CPUs may be in two different processor groups which causes the problem. Have to do more Googling on how to make them a single group. If you have knowledge about that, feel free to help

Wow, can't believe I found the setting!

During boot-up, I had to access System Utilities > BIOS > Performance Options > Advanced Performance Tuning Options > NUMA Group Size Optimization and change it from "clustered" to "flat". Hopefully this helps anyone having the same issue.
