  • Distributed Rendering Problem

So it is that time of year again: upgrade Vray - break DR - waste a couple of days trying to fix it.

So DR was working fine, on Max 2016, until installing latest Vray version:

    - I can see the license server from the slave machines.
    - No Firewall running on any machines.
    - Using simple scene with no textures to test DR, it finds slaves, connects but then I just get "warning: Server XXX.XXX.X.XX:XXXXX is currently busy".

    Any ideas?

    Hi,

Is there any useful information in the V-Ray log file on the slave machine? Can you run another render test with "Restart slave on render end " unchecked and then post the entire log from the Slave machine here? This way V-Ray will not clear the log after the render is completed.

Earlier I was getting this (there is no vray.cfg file in the location it refers to though):

      [2015/Aug/15|11:25:45] Loading done.
      [2015/Aug/15|11:25:45] [VRender] Constructor entered.
      [2015/Aug/15|11:25:45] Setting default filter kernel.
[2015/Aug/15|11:25:45] "default" preset not loaded: [loadPreset] Cannot open file "C:\Users\NETWORKUSER\AppData\Local\Autodesk\3dsMa x\2016 - 64bit\ENU\en-US\plugcfg\vray.cfg"
      [2015/Aug/15|11:25:45] [VRender] Constructor done.
      [2015/Aug/15|11:25:45] VRenderer destructor entered.
      [2015/Aug/15|11:25:45] VRenderer destructor done.

Now just seem to be getting this:

      [2015/Aug/14|11:54:48] Received TM_START_RENDER from 192.168.1.67
[2015/Aug/14|11:54:48] warning: DR request received from 192.168.1.67, but currently busy with 0.0.0.0

        Thank you.

        [2015/Aug/14|11:54:48] Received TM_START_RENDER from 192.168.1.67
[2015/Aug/14|11:54:48] warning: DR request received from 192.168.1.67, but currently busy with 0.0.0.0
Can you restart the spawner on this slave machine and run another test (restart on render end = Off) and check the Vraylog.txt on the same slave.
It looks like the V-Ray spawner is busy with the previous job.

          I'm testing on 2 slaves called pc202 and pc203:

Vray log window on the main PC gets as far as 'scene transferred to pc202:20204' and 'scene transferred to pc203:20204' but nothing further happens (I have left them going for 2 hours at one point just to check!).

          Slave machine logs read:

Can't find anything useful in the log. Would it be possible to crate a ticket about this issue? This can be done automatically when you send us an email to support@chaosgroup.com Then we will probably continue to troubleshoot this DR issue via remote session

I wiped the slaves and reinstalled everything - they are working again now so will never know what it was but I had lost too much time troubleshooting already so was time to push the big red button!
