  • Possible to exclude objects from fastsss2 in raytrace mode?

    Heya Folks!

I'm doing a shot where I've to do a head replacement and in the live action footage there's an actor that places their hand on the head that I'm replacing. I've got some dummy geometry to cast a shadow from the arm and hand on to the cg head but what I'm doing is making it invisible to camera, turning off shadow and GI casting and then using it as an object in a vray dirt map as a render pass instead. The only bad thing is that my SSS shader on the head is still calculating the intersection with the arm object, even though everything on my arm is off. It seems that this works fine in the other SSS modes of prepass or object based illumination maps. I've tried using things refraction / reflection include lists and excluding my arm from the lights in the scene - is there anything else that I can try to make the SSS shader ignore a scene object?

    Cheers!

I think I understand what you are trying to do, but do you think you can get be some simple setup that shows the problem?

    Best regards,
    Vlado

Here's a screenshot showing the scene setup and the result. Both boxes are using the rendering properties visible and a flat grey vray material:

      And the scene file itself.

I made a not about that issue. Unfortunately we don't have a workaround for it rather than not using the Raytraced mode.

Totally fine - the other modes work just as well for these scenes.
