  • opacity Map reduces reflection

    Hi,
Just noticed that a simple white VrayColor Map in the Opacity Map slot reduces the reflection of the material. I think that only happens if you render with Fresnel reflections turned on.
I used the VrayDistance texture to cut out some geometry while rendering and noticed that the Material are looking different with the distanceTexture in the Opacity Slot.
I would have expected that a white VrayColor in Opacity Slot just does nothing until I use any values below 1.
    kind regards

My info may be outdated, but using opacity used to override your IOR to 1.0.

Ah thanks. You mean Index of Refraction right? It actually looks like the shader with the opacity map. By the way, I always thought that the refraction IOR only effects the shader if there actually is refraction happening? In my case the refraction is pure black but it still controls the reflection somehow.

For this case is better to use Falloff map for Reflections instead of Fresnel.
