  • Slow render when using Light Cache From file

    Hello!

My problem is basically just as the title says. I'm using 3dsMax 2016 with Vray3.2 (windows 10).

I have a scene which i would like to render as a small animation (still scene with just a moving camera). I'm quite new to rendering an animation to bear with me. First I render the render the Lightcache to a file and then render the irradiance maps (every 10th of a frame) using the Light Cache from File. Then final the AA renders (all frames).

However after I render the light cache to a file and re-use this when rendering the irradiance map, the render is waaay slower (about 5 to 10 times slower). When I render the same irradiance map, and select Light Cache Single Frame instead of From file, the render is speedy just as normal.

So something is wrong when using the Light Cache from file. Ive tried using both saving the lightcache on a network path as just placing it on my desktop. Same thing occurs.

Does anyone have an idea what to try?

    Greetings,

    Joost

Does the issue occur on every scene or only with particular one/ones?
What is the exact version of V-Ray, 3.20.03?
