  • GI on Matte objects not in VRayGlobalIllumination element.

I don't remember this being an issue before, or if my work flow is incorrect.

I have a matte object setup for the environment (a passage way) and am just adding a self illuminated object into it.
RGB looks correct, light being cast onto walls etc. But in the VRayGlobalIllumination pass, only the object is visible not the light cast onto the walls of the matte object.

    Environment object has

    Matte object on
    Alpha cont -1
    Shadows on
    Affect Alpha on

Alpha element appears to show the shadows and GI are contributing to the matte.

This has always been an issue. It is in our "to do" list.

      Thanks.
It's odd though, I know I have achieved something like it before. Not sure how, will have to dig up old files and see how I did it.

We've never stored the GI on matte objects into the global illumination elements. It's not a problem to do it if you need it, but I'm not sure it's the right thing to do.

        Best regards,

Thanks guys, found my old file, I had faked it with direct light and a vray light select.
