  • How to render pure white background

    Hello,
What's the trick inside Vray to get an object render on a pure white background?

Yes, BUT, unchecking that can give issues with lens effects
just something to keep in mind
      Kind Regards,

I tried this method, but, the background wasn't pure white. using a wrapper mtl and savind as PNG with alpha is the best solution I've found so far. Thanks

Also make sure your camera has no white balance color and no vigneting effect.

so, applying all the solution above:
            - No vignetting
            - Neutral balance color
            - Affect background unchecked
            - Process background and environment uncheck

The only way to get a white background is to uncheck the exposure control in the vrayphysical camera slot and apply a color mapping with intensity gamma. But for sure that doesn't allow you to render the image as per your wishes!

Can I ask why you'd want to render with pure white bg?
The best way (and proper way) is to render with pure black and comp the BG in post (for you a solid white) using pre-multiply with black on your beauty pass.

Trying to get it done without extra post prod, to gain time.

Well then, in theory, you should disable the affect background, add a white in the BG and make sure you over ride the BG color with black in the vray environnement roll-out in the render settings.
This will basically just act as a screen color for your BG without affecting the colours of your scene.

I added the scene as attached just in case.
But make sure you will never need to change the BG color in post as you'll always end up with a fringe in aliasing if you render out with any color other than black

                    Hope this helps

thanks, I wonder where I get lost, but it was not working but know it is working fine. Thanks for the clear explanation.
