  • Light cache taking ages

    Hey guys,

I've got a model that has been rendering fine up until I imported a few stock models, now the light cache gets to about 95% and hangs for ages (not sure if it even completes as I'm up against a deadline and keep trying new things).

An override material fixes the issue, so I assume it's a material issue. All Materials are VRay, I've run a script to check and convert any that aren't. I can't think of what else might be causing it within a material?

[edit] There were a few bottles with Blend materials instead of VRay Blend materials. Quite annoying.

Yeah, as soon as I swapped the Blend materials out for the VRayBlend it was fine.

A "debug" mode, or similar would be so useful for situations like this. I have tried changing the log level to 4 but there is simply too much to trawl through.

Well V-Ray does print warnings about some incompatible materials, I will add the Blend/Shellac/Composite materials to the list.
