Hi,
I am rendering an apartment interior for VR (stereo 18k cubemap and also a mono 4k equirectangular projection) with 3d Studio Max and V-Ray 3.2.03 with a very large digital set exterior.
There seems to be a problem with the V-Ray Sun as the sun shadows are _not_ being cast by some objects, and for others the sun shadow is just plain wrong. For instance I have a potted plant on a table. The plant itself creates a shadow onto the table but the pot does not! Then there is a chair where it seems to float because the sun shadow is shifted from where it should be (the scene is also lit by an HDR by the way).
I thought it had to do with a floating point precision error since I have this plane of about 100 x 100 km of ocean surface using the PhoenixOceanTex. However turning of the ocean surface and the entire exterior 3d model and rendering does not solve my problem.
It adds to the challenge that I have received the apartment model from another 3d artist so I have not been able to vet the geometry and materials as per my usual workflow. Any advice or pointers are greatly appreciated as this is a competition project and needs to be done tomorrow and the render time is like 9 hours for the 18k. Thanks for any help/advice.
