  • VrayProxy import as mesh problem

I'm trying to export an environment for animation blockout purposes, just geometry, no shaders. Everything works fine, but the animator asked me if he could import as mesh and have access to every object and delete what he doesn't need. Problem is import as mesh imports everything as a single object, and trying to access poly elements in a 3 million poly environment in max is impossible..... i would like to have an option to import as single objects again.

Is this possible? Or am i doing something wrong?

    Hi,

I assume the environment is build by different objects exported together into a single Proxy file. If that is true, then you can use the Proxy visibility options to hide some parts of the geometry from being visible in the viewport or rendered.
    Here is one example:

Name:	2015-11-05 10_16_26}.png
Views:	1
Size:	282.5 KB
ID:	858802
The Viewport will show the changes made in the Proxy mesh visibility only when the proxy has been exported in Face Skipping mode.

Yes i noticed that, the problem is when you have thousands of objects, and scrolling through that small window without even knowing which object is what, is kinda hard to select what you really want, specially if you're the one who didn't build the environment...

I guess if the proxy can read every object separately inside it, it can also import them all at once as individual objects too? Or would it be too hard to implement this?

It's not hard, but it takes time. I will add a note to look into it.

        Best regards,
