Can't close the VFB window

Sometimes, on vary rare occasions, I can't close the VFB window. I found that you can fix this if you render the image again, stop it before it finishes, and then the window can be closed. Unfortunately I can't give steps to reproduce.

The next time this happens, can you try switching to another application and then back to Max?

I forgot to mention that I already tried this and it didn't help. At first I thought it was the bug that makes VBF inactive until you switch apps but it appears that this is another thing.
