  • Vray 3.3.01 - Uncouple vrayEdgeTex and Rounded Corners?

Would it be possible to have rounded corners as a seperate material option maybe, or its own map?

Rounded corners are doing exactly what they should be, but the edge texture is making it look less than desirable...

Or is there another possible workaround for this? It didn't seem to be an issue in any of the previous renders I've seen. Nothing crazy about the geo here, just Turbosmoothed a couple times.

Hm, it's always been like that. Try setting the "pixel width" to 0. But you are right, maybe that's something we should consider. Or alternatively, add a texture bump slot in the VRayEdgesTex texture itself.

    Best regards,
    Vlado

Have never seen this behavior, and I used the EdgeTex a lot over the years. When used in the bump slot, you should not be able to see the edges of the geometry.

To be fair, the radius was set up far too high, adjusting that helped immensely. Really pleased with the stuff we're getting now.

Also, I'm not sure if you might have missed it, but did you see my question about this possibly working with vrayClipper? Know it may be a long-shot...

        Cheers!

No, I didn't miss it. I think it is possible to make the two work together, just need to think about it a bit.

By the way do we still have to pipe the edgesTex through Color2Bump to get an effect with the new SP?

            3ds Max 2016 SP4

              No. This was never needed.

VrayBumpMtl with EdgeTex is nice setup. pretty comfortable to use.
