  • Material ID element coming out noisy?

for some reason, which i'm unaware, my render elements for masking ie. Material ID and Wirecolour are coming out noisy?

this a previous render of the same scene was fine, but for some reason it's happening on every scene I'm sending off to render atm...
other computers in the office aren't doing it...?

does anyone know what i might have done or clicked for this to happen?

I think it might be that when I set up the TGA file that i had 16 bits-per-pixel selected rather than 32...?

Yeah 16bit it useless, it should be 24 which is RGB or 32bit which is RGBA, it's not bits per channel like EXR.

TGA is still very efficent for MMEs, the RLE compression works very well. We still use them occasionally and if max was better at mixing types of elements we'd have all our renders kicking off exr files for beauty/reflection etc and then the MMEs would be TGAs.
