  • Unable to install/uninstall Vray

    Hi,

Due to unknown Win7 issues, I can´t install/uninstall Vray 33002 from my Workstation. It also happened to me when trying to uninstall Itoo Forest Pack a few days ago, so it may be caused by some problems from Windows side, or virus, or whatever.... I´m totally lost.

I managed to manually uninstall Itoo FP thanks to their support help, I had to remove all files manually and also registry keys. Then I succesfully managed to install it normally.
I´m trying that same method with vray, following the "uninstall Vray" instructions on support docs, but after deleting everything, vray seems to be still installed for my Win7, so I supposed that I needed to delete also registry keys... But I can´t find any info about what/where REG keys I need to delete manually.

Any help will be really welcome.

hmm, the installation issues could be related to corrupt msiexec.exe in the windows. Did you try windows repair? also did you install windows updates or how up to date your system is. Lastly, what win7 is it? x64 bit pro or ultimate?

      Hi,

I have win7 64 ultimate, and it's supposed to be totally up to date. I had some problems installing win updates a few weeks ago and since then a Windows process called GWXUX.exe is crashing all the time, every 10-15min. I think it's related to obtaining Windows X.

I haven't tried to repair win installation, I've never done so. I was afraid of having problems with all my programs, having to reinstall everything again...
I tried to restore a previous Windows rest point but it failed and told me that no files were restored.

      Thanks for your help.

you should google on how to remove that service, its a microsoft update kb# which forces you to have win10 notification. Also applying repair to windows should not be problematic, sounds like you already have trouble with win os, i hate Microsoft for doing shit like that.

You can find the registry key for V-Ray here: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\Uninstall\V-Ray for 3dsmax 20xx for x64
Also you can delete all V-Ray environment variables here: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Session Manager\Environment

The problem seems to be solved. I could install latest version and It seems to work fine.

              I also repaired msiexec.exe.

Even my GWXUX service is not crashing for a while after uninstalling the KBxxx update..

              Thanks a lot
