  • RT Activeshade locks up max UI

    Hi all

I have a GTX 670 with 4GB ram. When I use RT activeshade CUDA (Vray 3.3) and I want to change camera settings or light settings, I have to stop the render before I can see the controls of the lights or cams. Its asif the GPU uses too much resources or something and doesn't leave enough for MAX. Is there a way we can limit this like with adv and the dynamic ram limit?

I get excited everytime a new version is released, but since 2007 when I 1st saw RT, I'm yet to use it succesfully on a single production
    Kind Regards,

    Hello,

You could lower Rays per pixel and/or the Ray bundle size parameters in the Performance section of the V-Ray RT - this will make the user interface more responsive. More details here:

By default RT GPU tries its best to fully utilize the hardware. If you have multi GPU setup you can leave one GPU for viewport/monitor and render with the rest. If you don't you can try http://docs.chaosgroup.com/plugins/s.../view/10390214 section "Balancing the GPU load". You can go with rays per pixel / ray bundle size as low as 1 / 16.

      Edit: Yavor got it first

Even on 4/1 it's still the same (but the rendering obviously much slower)

It is weird that it doesn't have any Max performance improvement.
The best we can do in that case is to check the scene and see why is that. I guess if you can mail it to support@chaosgroup.com with link to this topic it could help us for further improvements. Keep in mind that because of the holidays we might be a bit slower than usual with the support requests.

I started a new scene and imported all except 1 object. Working now. The 1 object was from a 3rd party
