I'm having a hard time getting the VRaySoftbox to work nicely in a VRay Plane Rectangle light.
I have a bunch of different lights, with multiplier varying between 5 and 50, but none of the softboxes seem to have an affect. (especially in reflections this is obvious)

As you can see, the reflection of the softbox makes a very harsh solid reflection. In the middle of this cropped pic, below the window and on the roof this is most obvious. If I decrease the multiplier of the lights, the scene becomes very dark and I have to compensate by increasing the exposure, in which case I end up with the same thing again. I've tried ticking radial, modified the frame gradient with a lot more points, but nothing seem to work.
Can somebody recommend a known "good" setting for softbox, or suggest an alternative? (that does not involve using different software).
Are there any known bugs with softbox?
This is with VRay 3.3
