  • Vray 3.3: Pixels with invalid values in reflection channel

    Hey,
here is a bug I came across. I am getting pixels with invalid values in the reflection channel. They show up as black and have obscure values. There was a bug with GGX a while back, but this is Blinn, nothing fancy.
Max 2016, Vray 3.30.03, tested on different workstations.

    Regards

    Oliver

If you brush ontop of them in ps are they floating above the brush,
If so I had a similar problem a long while ago in mental ray but never found the answer

Yes, you can't paint them over in PS because the value seems to be infinitely negative it seems. Anyway, it's annoying.

Thanks for attaching the scene file for this issue.
I'm going to submit a bug report about that. Until we manage to fix it you can try to use the Clamp check-box in the Gradient map texture Output roll-out, which is actually used as a Dome texture. Probably you will not loose any quality or dynamic of the final render result. Another workaround would be to bake this map into a file and use our V-Ray HDRI loader instead.

Sadly I am still having these problems. This time it is not a gradient, but an HDRI I have to use. Clamping is no option, because I loose the lighting information then. This is 3.40.02

No feedback on this one? Do you need another scene?

Sadly I am still having these problems.
Would it be possible to send us a stripped part of the scene with that issue to support@chaosgroup.com so we could investigate further. Please make sure to mention this thread.

The issue that you reported is still on the queue, we should get to it soon. If you have other scene with that problem please send it over.

I managed to reproduce the issue and added it into our but tracking system for further investigation.
                  Will keep you posted.
