  • Invisible to Camera Still Rendering

    Hi all,

We have some trees that we are un-checking "visible to camera" in the object properties, but they are still rendering.
We have spent a bit of time trying a whole heap of different things and have found out its because the trees are behind glass (object with a refractive glass material).
They are not visible in the render when we hide the glass object.
This all worked fine previously, we have upgraded to Max 2016 + Vray 3.3.
    Is this a bug?

    Cheers
    Troy

Make them not visible to reflection/refraction in addition (also in object properties). Or try trace sets in VRayProperties for the object.

Thanks, but we want them visible in reflections, but not in refractions, thought the "visible to camera" would sort this out.

There is an additional problem when you use the reflection/refraction switches, refraction overrides the reflection ray.
So if we switch off "visible in refraction" and leave on "visible to reflection" the result being we cant see the trees also in any reflections because the ray has to go through the glass (refraction).

So we want the trees to be visible to everything, just not in the rendered image, hope that makes sense.

Try a refraction exclude Trace set in the VRayProperties of the glass object, perhaps?

Edit: or are you saying the issue above precludes this?

        Do it in the comp

Ok, havent seen them before, the Trace Sets Excludes, that might do the trick.
          Thanks
