  • matte shadows

I have noticed that one matte surface blocks shadow casting on another matte surface.
    Is this normal?

    Hello!
Try it again with disabled "No GI on other mattes" in the vray properties or VRayMtlWrapper parameters, depending on which one you use for your matte setup.

    Best regards,

      This is simplified scene.
      matte shadows.zip
I'd like to just catch shadows from "flying" box.
With "No GI on other mattes" turned OFF there are strange additional shadows.
With "No GI on other mattes" turned ON there is area without shadows.
      Maybe I'm doing something wrong?

If you are looking for the effect bellow you could achieve it if you exclude the bottom box from shadow casting of the light:

Why the bottom box is a matte actually?
