  • Material Swatches

If I forget to launch the VRay Lincense Server, prior to launching MAX, I can never get my material shader balls to work. The material balls are black and never show the material, on the ball, until I reboot MAX.

So why don't you just register the VRay license service and let it start automatically?
    Kind Regards,

Did you try to do it as administrator?
        Kind Regards,

You could also try writing a batch file that launches the license server and 3ds Max with the same shortcut. Though not sure what would happen if you close Max and re-launch with the same icon if the license server is already running. Might be like crossing the streams...

I haven't tried too much registering it as a service, so I'll give some things a try. I just thought that it was strange not being able to revive the swatches.

If you installed VRay with admin it gives you the option to register during install.
                Kind Regards,

you can also just put a shortcut to the license server in your startup folder. itll load every time you switch on your machine.
