  • IR & LC issue

I was curious if anyone knows what is going on here....see attached. I just upgraded from 2.5 to 3.3 and this is the first time rendering this file with 3.3. I was using IR first and LC second. I had no issues using Brute force for both first and second. The final rendering also had bright areas of color.

    Thoughts?

    Thanks.........Scott

It's not in the shadows, is it? If not, then you'll need to raise your Min/Max. For my exterior, 1/36 seems to be the magic number. If it is in the shadows, then you lower your noise threshold. I seem to always fall on 1/36 .008.

hey Bobby i dont think hes asking about the graininess. possibly the disco colour scheme is more concerning

having said that, i cant really offer much constructive beyond checking the scene for unsupported maps and materials, maybe reset vray by going to the scanline renderer, then back to vray..

why it would only happen in 3.3 is not clear.

Correct.......it is the colors. This is what the IR pass looked like after completion. LC look ok during the process, just the IR pass is giving us the Disco effect. I will try to reset as suggested and see what happens. I have rendered other files with 3.3 and there are no issues, however, this is the largest overall file I have worked with in 3.3. This is only one small part of a much larger scene.

        Thanks.......Scott

          Just a question or two:

          1. How does it render? Does it give you the colors in final rendering? Or just on IR?

          2. BF + BF seems to be the right way to go about it for an exterior, any reason you are going for IR?

1 - Yes, the colors are in the final image
2 - I have always used IR & LC in the past. It has always worked well for me but now, I'm finding issues with 2.5 files rendering in 3.3.

these disco effects i find are invariably caused by incompatible materials in the scene. however why this would be an issue in 3.3 and not in 2.5 i have no idea.

I'd tend to agree with this datum, perhaps some raytrace maps left from some material or something created in the past?

On point 2, since the speed gained with 3.3 perhaps for an exterior you may want to look at going BF+BF? You may gain quite a lot of detail on your renderings.
