  • Proxy Weirdness - 3.30.04

    Hi all

I have some strange proxy issues happening here created and displayed with 3.30.04.

If I don't have the proxies selected,
    In Wireframe mode:
All modes work fine and I can see the proxy, except obviously point.

    In shaded mode,
"Bounding Box" as well as "preview from file (faces)", results in the proxy going invisible, in other words the whole thing disappears from the viewport.

Any mode renders just fine on the other hand...
    Kind Regards,
    Morne

What is your 3ds max version (SP?) ? What is your viewport type - Nitrous ? Is this is happening with any proxy ?
If it was that easy, it would have already been done

I've made some more proxies in that same file from other objects, and they work fine. Not sure what was up with the 1st lost. A bit pressed for time so will investigate further towards the end...
      Kind Regards,

I also noticed something else very weird. ALL proxies in this file, the "broken ones" as well as normal ones, have an issue when displayed as "point".
All the modes, shows the gizmo and the center of the object. When I set the mode to point, the gizmo stays in the same place, but the actual point jumps like 300 meters away from it's actual location.

This is with latest V-Ray - and also the nightly build 26661. Default nitrous display
        Kind Regards,
        Morne

When I create the proxy, the pivot jumps to 0,0 instead of staying put in place center of the object. I can't remember it working like that in 2.4
Is it a bug or was it decided that is the way it should work? Makes more sense to leave things as they were I think
          Kind Regards,
          Morne

I can't reproduce it with a simple export/import with a latest nightly. There must be something else, can you share one of the problematic proxies or better - reproducible steps ? (peter.matanov@chaosgroup.com)

                Hi Morné,

If you export all objects in a single file the combined pivot will be moved to the coordinate origin. If the object was offset prior to the export, then when you import it back the same offset will be present for the geometry to the proxy's pivot.

                Best regards,
                Alexander
