  • VrayRT - how to lower process priority

Is there any way to lower priority of VrayRT process?
When VrayRT is active max interface and slate material editor is almost unusable...

    Hello,

Are you using RT GPU? If so you should check http://docs.chaosgroup.com/display/V...useV-RayRTGPU?

I noticed a feature in other renderers (for Maya though) to specify the number of CPU cores preserved for UI interaction....curious if we can do this for RT CPU as well?
        always curious...

You could use the system_numThreads property of the production V-Ray renderer (renderers.production.system_numThreads) - it specifies how many threads to use for rendering (0 being all). If nothing is set then V-Ray RT uses all threads -1 so you could set system_numThreads to all threads -2 to see if Max behaves better.
About the priority - all the RT threads are started with low priority.
          Hope that helps.
