  • VraySSS & attached meshs

    Hello !

We got a problem with vraySSS (both FastSSS2 & SkinMtl) applied on attached mesh with faces penetrations.
Our working exemples is gums and teeth.

We got on the left attaches meshes & on the right detached.
On the 2nd image, top is SkinMtl, bottom is FastSSS2

It's pretty annoying for us to detach the elements to have the result we need.

    Thanks !

Although I'm not sure whether this is an expected effect or not I reported the issue to the developers. We will keep you posted for any updates.

turning "scatter GI" in the shader off fixes the issue, for hardly any difference (unless it's a GI light providing lighting, ofc.).

If you select the objects, right-click and select V-Ray Object Properties, you should see a parameter "Raytraced SSS ID", make sure it's the same non-zero value for both objects (f.e. 1). Then the SSS shader will be able to blend between them.

        Best regards,
        Vlado

Unfortunately this make react the 'detached meshes' as the attached one. It's the invert of what i wanted.

I changed the Raytraced SSS ID from 0 to 1.
            - on a single mesh => doesn't change anything
            - on a dual mesh => react like the single mesh. I've got a badly transition between teeth and gums

(On my first image, the expected result is the right one)

And scatter GI in shader was off, but turning it on doesn't change anything.

            Tryed over 3.30.03 & 3.30.05 versions.

At the moment I don't have another solution for you, unfortunately.

              Best regards,
              Vlado
