  • Loading Bitmaps takes long when using VrayProxies

    Hallo
i have an issue using VrayProxies together with a large (60+) multimat. The "loading bitmaps" prepass takes up to 10minutes. if i render the original scene without proxies it takes only a few seconds.

    Any idea ?

No idea, maybe you can send the scene to support@chaosgroup.com and we can check it out. In the meantime, you can try using VRayHDRI maps instead - maybe they will be faster to load.

    Best regards,
    Vlado

      Hi vlado

The scene is 1.5gb in size (without bitmaps). 15mio Polys plus 10mio in Proxies.
Do you mean 8bit bitmaps as vrayhdri ? Are they faster to load?

Our support guys can get you ftp info to upload it. VRayHDRI can load 8-bit textures just fine, and it will load them on-demand as needed rather than all of them at the beginning of the frame.

        Best regards,
        Vlado

            Hallo
Thanks for your support but i solved the problem.
for some reason one map was corrupt and couldnt be loaded. i dont understand why it took so long loading the other bitmaps but after fixing this the bitmap prepass takes a few seconds.
strangely the issue first apear when using the proxies.
