  • What could be causing this ? And what would be the fix :)

    Hi Guys,

    Hope you can help - I'm running out of ideas as to what could be causing this and how to go about fixing it ? I've tried all the VRay settings I can think of that'd possibly eliminate it but with no joy.

    I'm referring to the 'adhesive' layers that have been spread using a castellated spreader profile (i.e. 6mm then a 6x8mm cutout etc).

    And specifically where they simply aren't clean but 'joined' up for some reason.

    The geometry is good and the material is very basic.

    Many thanks for any guidance - hopefully by this afternoon as this image needs to be wrapped up in short while.....

    If you mean the white splotchy areas, there are two things to do:

    *) If you are using the irradiance map, switch to brute force GI for the primary bounces;
    *) If you are using the light cache for the secondary bounces, make sure it's "retrace" option is enabled and set to at least 1.0

    Basically, the default GI settings should get rid of this.

      Thanks Vlado,

      I've tried what you said but hasn't really fixed things.

      Here's a screen grab highlighting the areas I'm referring to, which were done using the render settings you said to switch to.

      (I didn't circle all the issues present, just a few to give you an idea).

      I'm specifically concerned about the serrated adhesive layers for this floor that I'm showing with cut-aways.

      Many thanks.

        Then no idea, I will need a scene for this, it might be a number of things, including some geometry issue.

        Best regards,

          Thanks Vlado - resetting V-Ray to default settings cured it
