  • rt gpu and vraynormalmap.

i tried using vraynormalmap with rt gpu and it behaves very strangely. its a person (renderpeople) comes with a max normal bump assigned. in vray standard i get an error about it not being a supported map type.. strangely in rt gpu i do not.

i asumed it was not working, and swapped it for a vraynormalmap. i adjusted the gamma to 1, so the neutral colour was 128,128,255 as per the help files. (it was on 2.2)

the character gets a horrible sheen all over.. (same as with gamma 2.2, no change) character is backit so i assume its doing something extreme with the normals.

in vray standard, the normal map works as expected.

in the help files vraynormalmap is listed as compatible with rt gpu.

This has been talked about before, RT doesn't handle Bump correctly, I tried getting the same results from RT that I had in ADV. Always came out odd, Vlado told me to try Normal map instead but still the same issues. I still don't think it has been fixed yet. We'll have to wait for someone to chime in on the progress of fixing it.
