  • Vray stuck during pre-load

    Hi,

I'm experiencing for the last few months random freeze of vray when pre-loading some of our biggest scenes.
It just hang, and as soon as I click on one of Vray's window, it gets back to work and carry one.
Only happens on really heavy scenes that take like 10min to open and another 5-10 to pre-load at render-time and goes beyond 64Gb of ram at render-time but we do have a fair bit of those scene to manage so quite annoying when it hangs.

As it's random I can't really reproduce it consistently but it does happen from time to time (like every day or two).

    Any ideas?

When it happens next time, can you take a minidump snapshot of the 3ds Max process (either through Task Manager or Process Explorer) and send it to me at vlado@chaosgroup.com ?

    Best regards,
    Vlado

When you mean the minidump, do you mean the normal Vray log? because there isn't anything particular written there, just as usual it list what it's doing, but just freeze untill I click on a window.
Does it on different computers so it's related to my wrkstn particularly, and with different vray version as well, although it's all on max 2014.

Through task manager, select 3dsmax.exe and right-click. Then select "Create Dump File"

ah ha, well done, I'll do that
Should I do that "when" it's stuck, or after once I noticed it's stuck and clicked on a window to make it move again?
