  • How do I use Complex Fresnel shader with http://refractiveindex.info/

    Hi guys,
Im learning a lot about V-Ray by building materials. Does anyone know hoe I extract the n and k values of a material from http://refractiveindex.info/ ?

Would be a great help to me as Im trying to make many material presets.

You need the wavelengths corresponding to R, G and B. Then write down n and k for those. SO on the top there's a box where you can input the wavelength, it will give you the n and k values for that specific wavelength.
This is the somewhat loose part because what exactly is the correct wavelength for computer R, G and B?

    For example (wavelength, n, k)
    GOLD
    0.61136 µm 0.22213 3.0363
    0.54896 µm 0.42814 2.3340
    0.46428 µm 1.2570 1.7531

edit: changed from nm to µm.

YES! Thank you. Yeah I just Wikied R, G, and B...then I saw your post and it confirmed my suspicions. Sweet! I love V-Ray. Thanks again for your help.
