  • Blend Material in Max 2017??

    Hi there,

I just installed Vray 3.4 for Max 2017 and I'm surprised to find out that Max doesn't not show the Blend Material when vray is installed.

I would love to know if this is intentional or just a bug.

    Any info on that?

    Thanks.

It is intentional. You can turn on the "Show incompatible" option in the material/map browser to make the Blend material to show. However keep in mind that the Blend material slows V-Ray down; it is better to use the VRayBlendMtl instead.

    Best regards,
    Vlado
I only act like I know everything, Rogers.

      Thanks Vlado!

Yes, I know about that regular Blend slows Max down but I have have a large library based on those shaders. I'm in the process of rebuilding the Library from scratch using Vray Blend.

It should be pretty straightforward-scriptable if I'm not missing something here, the conversion process. Also something the VRaySceneconverter could do in the future
        Software:
        Windows 7 Ultimate x64 SP1
        3ds Max 2016 SP4
        V-Ray Adv 3.60.04

        Intel Core i7-4930K @ 3.40 GHz
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 780 (4096MB RAM)

Yep, how many scenes are the materials in Fausto? There's been a tonne of utilities to convert back and forth between various vray compatible maps and not so the code is floating around in many guises.
